Create a mealtime schedule around a regular lunch or dinner and choose the apps you want to step away from. The selected apps are paused automatically during the window; other phone functions remain outside that chosen block list.
Dinner, uninterrupted
- Repeats
- Every day
- Time window
- 19:00 – 19:45
- Consider blocking
- Feeds, games, and optional work apps
- Keep available
- Calls, payment tools, recipes, and essential messages
- Optional reminder
- Enjoy the meal in front of you.
These are suggested settings, not a built-in preset. Select the apps and hours that fit your needs.
Try it step by step
- Choose a mealtime that is reasonably predictable and keep any recipe or payment app you need available.
- Open Schedules, choose New schedule, and name it “Dinner, uninterrupted”.
- Choose your repeating days and time window. The example below uses 19:00–19:45; adapt it to your routine.
- Select the apps to block, optionally add a reminder message, and save the enabled schedule. Required protection permissions must be granted.
- If meal times vary often, use a manual session instead of forcing an inaccurate recurring window.
Protect the meal you actually have
A solo lunch, a shared dinner, and a meal on a work break may need different choices. Decide what would make that meal more intentional before picking the apps.
It can be useful to finish necessary ordering or planning first. Blocking an app you still need for the meal makes the boundary harder to follow.
Use a separate window when routines differ
Lunch and dinner can be separate schedules if both are regular. The app supports up to ten schedules, so keep the set understandable rather than creating a rule for every possible moment.
If Family Time also covers dinner, check for duplicate restrictions. Pausing the dinner schedule does not unblock an app that Family Time is still protecting.
Common questions
Will this silence all notifications during dinner?
This guide concerns restricting selected apps, not a notification-silencing mode. Manage notification settings separately if needed.
What if I need to change today’s plan?
Pause the current schedule window when needed. Its apps can remain blocked by another active schedule or manual focus session. Edit or disable the schedule when you want to change the repeating routine.
