An app remains restricted while any active schedule or manual focus session is protecting it. Pausing one schedule only pauses that window’s contribution. Overnight windows belong to the selected day on which they begin and can finish the following morning.
Try it step by step
- Check which schedule windows are currently active and whether a manual session is running.
- Review the selected apps in each active protection source.
- If appropriate, pause the current window in the schedule you want to change.
- Check whether another schedule or manual session still includes the app before expecting access to return.
Example: bedtime meets Morning Reset
Suppose Bedtime blocks a social app from 22:30 to 07:30 and Morning Reset blocks it from 07:00 to 08:00. Between 07:00 and 07:30, both apply. When Bedtime ends, Morning Reset still protects the app until 08:00.
If you pause Morning Reset at 07:15, Bedtime still applies until 07:30. Pausing a window is not a global off switch. The same principle applies when a manual focus session overlaps a schedule.
Choose the day the night starts
A Sunday 22:30–07:00 schedule continues into Monday morning. Selecting Monday instead starts the window Monday night. This matters when setting a workweek bedtime routine.
Use the active status and remaining time shown in the app to understand the current occurrence. If your routine changes, edit the repeating schedule rather than assuming a one-off pause rewrites its future days.
When to pause, edit, or delete
Pause current window is useful for an exception within the active occurrence. Edit the name, days, times, or app selection for a lasting change. Disable a schedule when you want to stop applying it without treating every day as an exception.
Deleting a schedule removes that schedule, not your other schedules or focus history. If restrictions still seem inconsistent, contact support with your device and app version plus the active windows, avoiding personal details in screenshots.
Common questions
Why is an app still blocked after I pause a schedule?
Another active schedule or manual focus session may also be blocking it. Check all active protection sources.
Does pausing today delete the schedule?
No. Pausing the current window is different from deleting or editing the recurring schedule.
